P. 177
(c) How many more pink roses are there than tulips?
(d) Arrange the names of the flowers in increasing order of their numbers.
(e) How many flowers are there in the bouquet?
Solution: (a) Number of lilies = 4 × 3 = 12 (each stands for 3 lilies and there
are 4 )
(b) Pink roses are used the most in the bouquet.
(c) Number of pink roses = 9 × 3 = 27
Number of tulips = 5 × 3 = 15
27 – 15 = 12
Thus, there are 12 pink roses more than tulips.
(d) lilies, tulips, carnations, orchids, pink roses
(e) Number of lilies = 4 × 3 = 12
Number of pink roses = 9 × 3 = 27
Number of orchids = 7 × 3 = 21
Number of carnations = 6 × 3 = 18
Number of tulips = 5 × 3 = 15
Total number of flowers = 12 + 27 + 21 + 18 + 15 = 93
So, there are 93 flowers in the bouquet.
