Conversion of kilograms into grams

To convert weight given in kilograms into grams, we Quick Tip

multiply by 1000. For example, To convert kg into g,
                                                                                 put three zeros to the
                   2 kg = (2 × 1000) g = 2000 g right of the number.

                   9 kg = (9 × 1000) g = 9000 g

                   12 kg = (12 × 1000) g = 12000 g

Example 7: Sid bought 5 kg 450 g of rice from a Know More
departmental store. How much is the
                             weight of rice in grams? 1 kg = 500 g + 500 g
                                                                               1 kg = two 500 g weights
            Solution: 5 kg = 5 × 1000 g = 5000 g 1 kg = 250 g + 250 g +
                             5 kg 450 g = 5000 g + 450 g = 5450 g 250 g + 250 g

So, the weight of rice is 5450 g. 1 kg = four 250 g weights

            Conversion of grams into kilograms

We can convert weight given in grams into kilograms by dividing it by 1000.

            For example,
                   1000 g = (1000 ÷ 1000) kg = 1 kg

                   5000 g = (5000 ÷ 1000) kg = 5 kg

                   17000 g = (17000 ÷ 1000) kg = 17 kg

Example 8: Convert 1879 grams into kilograms and grams.

            Solution: 1879 g = 1000 g + 879 g

                                       = 1 kg + 879 g
                                       = 1 kg 879 g

When we convert g into kg and g, the
