THREE-DIMENTSIONAL FIGURES
Integrated with Chemistry
In Chemistry, molecules have three-dimensional structures. Hydrocarbons, such as,
methane (CH ) has a tetrahedral structure. It is a pyramid with all faces being equilateral

triangles.

Can you identify the molecule shown in the following figure? Also,
measure the angle between the chemical bonds.

3D modeling is one of the essential building blocks of 3D computer graphics used in
engineering, architecture, entertainment, film, special effects, game development, and
commercial advertising.
Prepare a report in MS Word stating applications of 3D modeling in everyday life. Also
list various software required for 3D modeling.
SYMMETRY, REFLECTION AND ROTATION
Integrated with Environmental Science
Go for a nature walk in a garden near your locality and take
pictures of all kinds of interesting symmetrical shapes and patterns.
For example, the leaf has reflection symmetry whereas the flower
shows rotational symmetry.
Make a collage using the pictures collected by you in your scrapbook.
Also, sort the pictures into two different categories: Images that are
examples of rotational symmetry and images that are examples of
reflection symmetry.
CIRCLES
Integrated with Geography
The great-circle distance or orthodromic distance is the shortest distance between two points
on the surface of a sphere, measured along the surface of the sphere.
The great circle is used in the navigation of ship or aircraft. Pretty much useful, P Q v

PERIMETER AND AREA OF PLANE FIGURES
Integrated with Architecture
Trapeziums (also called trapezoids) are used to make earthquake
resistant dams and buildings using CSG (Cemented Sand and Gravel).
Make a list of five largest dams in India and compare their storage
capacities.
