Example 3: Construct the table of 9 by adding 1 to 10.
Solu on: To construct any table by adding 1 to 10, we need to fi rst write the table of
the previous number and then add 1 to 10 to it as shown in the given table.
So, to construct the table of 9, we will fi rst write the table of 8 and then
proceed.
Table of 8 Table of 9
8 + 1 = 9
16 + 2 = 18
24 + 3 = 27
32 + 4 = 36
40 + 5 = 45
48 + 6 = 54
56 + 7 = 63
64 + 8 = 72
72 + 9 = 81
80 + 10 = 90
Exercise 5.1
1. Solve the following.
(a) 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = ____ × 5 = ____
(b) 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = ____ × ____ = 30
(c) 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 7 × ____ = ____
(d) ____ + ____ + ____ + ____ + ____ + ____ = ____ × 3 = ____
2. Construct the tables of 5 and 8 by repeated addi on.
3. Construct the tables of 3 and 6 by skip coun ng. Then, construct the tables of
4 and 7 by adding 1 to 10.
Multiplication Tables in a Grid
Look at the given grid. You will fi nd numbers from 1 to 10 wri en horizontally and ver cally
in the top row and fi rst column, respec vely. Let’s see how we can complete this grid
using mul plica on tables.
