The Story of Mowgli



                                           Mowgli is a human child raised by wolf parents.

                                         He grew up with a pack of wolves, learning to hunt

                                         and eat like them. Other animals are his friends too.

                                              But he has a fierce and dangerous enemy –

                                                          Shere Khan the tiger . . .



                                       The stories of Mowgli’s adventures were written by the

                                       British author and poet Rudyard Kipling. He was born

                                         in Bombay (now called Mumbai) and lived in India

                                            for many years. The Mowgli tales are included

                                            in Kipling’s most famous book The Jungle Book,

                                              published in 1894. These tales have excited
                                             children and adults for more than a century,

                                              and they are still popular across the world.



                                            The two lessons that follow – ‘A Man’s Cub’ and

                                            ‘A Wolf’s Cub’ – tell us how Mowgli reached the

                                                   jungle and how Shere Khan became

                                                                his enemy . . .
