Growth in plants
Living things grow with time
Living things have a lifespan
After a certain age, all living things die. It means living things have a fi xed lifespan.
For example, some small animals like insects live only for a few hours or a few days
while other living things such as an elephant and a human can live for many years.
Living things reproduce
All living things have the ability to produce living
beings of their own kind. Animals reproduce by
directly giving birth to their young ones or by
laying eggs. Humans and animals such as cats,
dogs and cows give birth to their young ones.
Birds, fi sh, frogs and snakes lay eggs from which
their young ones hatch out. Most plants produce humans give birth hens give eggs

Living things feel changes
All living things feel changes that occur in the surroundings and respond to them.
Humans and animals have sense organs like eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin to
feel and sense things. For example, we switch on the fan in summer when we
feel hot. Similarly, a dog hangs out its tongue when it feels hot in summer. Some
birds and animals migrate from one place to another due to change in weather
