Living things move
All living things show movement. Most of them like animals and humans can
move on their own from one place to another. Plants cannot move from place
to place. They show movement in the form of bending and turning towards light
or water. We can see movement in plants only through some of their parts. For
example, the leaves of a touch-me-not (Mimosa) plant shows a quick movement
when touched. The sunfl ower always faces towards the

Living things grow
All living things grow with time using the energy
they get from food. Human and animal babies
slowly grow into adults. For example, a small
child grows into an adult with time. A puppy
grows into a dog and a cub grows into a lion. In
the same way, plants also show growth. Seeds
grow into saplings which then develop into fully puppy dog
grown big plants. Growth in dog
