3. A blazer is marked in a shop for ` 2,464. Rate of tax is 12%. Akriti tells the shopkeeper to lower
the rate to an extent that she has to pay nothing more than ` 2,464 including tax. Find the reduction
required.
4. A customer paid ` 38,400 to purchase a colour TV. If this includes 28% tax, determine the marked
price of the TV.
5. The marked price of a pair of jeans is ` 800. A customer pays ` 40 as tax for it. Find the rate of tax.

8. The marked price of a washing machine is ` 15,450. The shopkeeper allows a discount of 10% on

Objective: To calculate discount and tax
Suppose you have bought books and stationery for your younger brother who has come to class VI.
Make a detailed list of books and stationery you have purchased from a book shop in the given format.

• Now assuming that the bookseller has given you 10% discount on the whole transaction,
calculate how much money you have saved as compared to the previous case where there was
