Horizontal and Vertical Lines

Drawing Lines
A ruler or scale is used to draw straight lines. We also use it to measure lines that are
already drawn.
Remember
• Hold the ruler firmly so
that it does not move.
• Use a well-sharpened
pencil.

There are some other things that we can use to draw straight lines, but we cannot measure
lines using them.

To draw curved lines, we use a special instrument called compass. Curved lines can also be
drawn using some round or curved objects or freehand.
