             Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to learn:

                    • multiplication tables up to 10 using different strategies like repeated addition, skip
                   counting, patterns and many more.
                    • multiplication of a 2-digit number with a 1-digit number using standard algorithm and
                   lattice method.
                    • multiplying two numbers mentally.
                    • estimation of product of two numbers and verification by actually computing them.

Multiplication means adding the same number repeatedly. The number to be multiplied
is called multiplicand. The number by which we multiply is called multiplier. The result of
            multiplication is called product.

Consider 5 × 9 = 45. Here 5 is the multiplicand, 9 is the multiplier and 45 is the product.
We can read it as 5 times 9 is 45 or 5 into 9 is 45 or 5 nines are 45.

            Multiplication Tables
We have learnt the tables of 2 to 5 in our previous class. Let’s quickly revise them.

Table of 2 Table of 3 Table of 4 Table of 5

               2 × 1 = 2 3 × 1 = 3 4 × 1 = 4 5 × 1 = 5

               2 × 2 = 4 3 × 2 = 6 4 × 2 = 8 5 × 2 = 10

               2 × 3 = 6 3 × 3 = 9 4 × 3 = 12 5 × 3 = 15

               2 × 4 = 8 3 × 4 = 12 4 × 4 = 16 5 × 4 = 20

               2 × 5 = 10 3 × 5 = 15 4 × 5 = 20 5 × 5 = 25

               2 × 6 = 12 3 × 6 = 18 4 × 6 = 24 5 × 6 = 30

               2 × 7 = 14 3 × 7 = 21 4 × 7 = 28 5 × 7 = 35

               2 × 8 = 16 3 × 8 = 24 4 × 8 = 32 5 × 8 = 40

               2 × 9 = 18 3 × 9 = 27 4 × 9 = 36 5 × 9 = 45

               2 × 10 = 20 3 × 10 = 30 4 × 10 = 40 5 × 10 = 50

                                                                                                                 43
