                    Phrasal Verbs with Pass

                    Read this sentence from the story.
                       Bhola Grandpa is said to have passed out for a moment.

                    The phrase pass out means to fall unconscious. It is a phrasal verb, that is, a combination of a verb
                    with a preposition or an adverb or both. We can make diff erent phrasal verbs using pass, such as:
                         •  pass on/away: a polite way to refer to dying

                         •  pass down: hand down or teach something to the younger generations
                         • pass off : happen in a particular way
                         •  pass over: ignore or avoid someone or something

                         •  pass into: become a part of something
                         •  pass up (something): give up an advantage or an opportunity


                    A.  Fill in the blanks with appropriate phrasal verbs from the list given above.
