Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) is well known for his novels The Jungle Book
and Kim, among many other notable works of prose and poetry. His tales
have often been adapted on-screen. Born to British parents in Bombay
(now Mumbai), he had a lifelong affi nity for India, which is often refl ected in
his vivid and colourful descriptions of the country.
