                          Appreciation

                    Edward Lear is famous for his limericks. A limerick is a five line poem with a rhyme
                    scheme aabba. It is generally humorous or witty.

                    Read the following limerick by Edward Lear:

                         There was an Old Man in a boat,
                         Who said, ‘I’m afloat! I’m afloat!’
                         When they said, ‘No! you ain’t!’

                         He was ready to faint,
                         That unhappy Old Man in a boat.

                                                        pin harp chin sharp

                         There was a Young Lady whose chin,
                       Resembled the point of a ___________;

                         So she had it made ___________,

                         And purchased a ___________,

                         And played several tunes with her ___________.

                     B. Now, think of a funny theme and try to write a limerick of your own.

                    Besides being a poet, Edward Lear was a gi ed painter, and he also made beau ful
