Subject–Verb Agreement
Every sentence has a subject and a verb. The subject and the verb in a sentence must always
agree in number. A singular subject takes a singular verb and a plural subject takes a plural
verb.
Look at the following sentences.
Polly wants a cracker.
[singular subject] [singular verb]
Polly and Dab-Dab want a cracker.
[plural subject] [plural verb]
The subject and the verb must both be either singular or plural.
