Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–94) was a popular Scottish writer. He
is best known for his novels Treasure Island and Strange Case of
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. He also wrote several poems for children. This
poem is a part of his collection A Child’s Garden of Verses.
