Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail
went down the lane to gather 2

                   blackberries.

But Peter, who was very naughty,

                   ran away to Mr McGregor’s

                                                  3
                   garden, and squeezed under the
                   gate!

First he ate some lettuces and

some French beans. Then he ate
some radishes. And then, he went to look for some parsley.

                                                                            4
But round the end of a cucumber frame , he met Mr McGregor!
Mr McGregor ran after Peter, waving a rake and calling out, ‘Stop thief!’

Peter was scared. He rushed all over the garden. He had forgotten the
                   way back to the gate.

He lost one of his shoes among the cabbages, and the other shoe among

                   the potatoes.

After losing them, he ran into a gooseberry

                        5
net , and got caught by the large buttons on his
                   jacket.

Mr McGregor was about to catch Peter, but he

                                6
wriggled out, just in time. He left his jacket
                   behind him.

                                                                                     7
Then he jumped into a can in the toolshed .
But it was full of water.

Mr McGregor began to look for Peter in the toolshed.
