Using Compound Formula
A compound formula is the formula that requires more than one operator to perform a
calculation. In this case, we will be using the compound formula of simple interest which

Follow these steps to enter a compound
formula.
1. Enter the data as shown in the
screenshot.
Step 1
Step 2 2. Click on the cell B5 and type = sign.
3. Click on the cell B2. The cell address
of B2 will appear in ‘cell B5’ as well as
in the ‘Formulas’ bar.
4. Type the symbol in ‘cell B5’ and

6. Press the Enter key. The cell B5
will display the calculated simple
interest. In the ‘Formulas’ bar you
can see the compound formula.

Using Formula on Text
You can perform addition on String data type. Other than addition, none of the arithmetic
operations are allowed on the String data type. To perform addition among two string values,
the ‘ampersand’ symbol ‘&’ is used.
Follow these steps to apply formula
on text.
