Similarly, we use various devices such as hard disk, pen drive, CDs or DVDs,
and memory drive to store computer data.
Let’s learn about these devices.
Storage Devices
We use storage devices to store and record a large amount of data and
information for a long time.
Hard Disk
• A hard disk looks like a box.
• It is present inside the CPU box.
• It stores a huge amount of data and information.
Pen Drive
• A pen drive is also known as a fl ash drive.
• It stores data and can be carried wherever needed.
• It is used to transfer data to another computer.
• It can store more data than a CD or DVD but less than
a hard disk.
CD and DVD
• A CD is a round shiny disk.
• It is easy to carry a CD to any place.
• A DVD also looks like a CD. It stores more data than
a CD.
Memory Card
• A memory card stores data in mobile phones and digital
cameras.
• The card is small in size.
• We can take this card out from devices to view data on a
computer.
