drastically. Wiping out of any type of animal disturbs the food chain and causes
imbalance in nature.
Use of plastic: This has become very common nowadays.
Plastics do not decompose easily and can last long in the
soil. Since they cannot be decomposed by decomposers, soil
becomes infertile because of lack of nutrients. Plants cannot
grow in the absence of nutrients. This means lack of food for
animals. Thus, it disturbs the entire food chain and balance of
nature.
Human activities are creating adverse impact on the balance of nature. They are aff ecting
producers (plants), consumers (animals) as well as decomposers by their activities.

Protecting the Balance of Nature
In order to ensure survival of all living beings, balance of nature
has to be maintained. Many steps can be taken to minimise
the negative impact of human activities.
• Plant more trees. Plant three trees in place of one tree cut.
• Recycle and reuse materials like newspapers, plastic
bottles and aluminium cans.
• Save water and electricity.
• Do not kill animals for their products. We should also not
buy things made out of animal products.
• Manage industrial wastes sensibly to avoid water and
land pollution.
