            Comparing Numbers


            Let’s revise the rules we follow to compare 3-digit numbers.

                •  First compare the digits in the hundreds place.


                          876, 765                  Since 8 > 7, 876 > 765.

                •  If the digits in the hundreds place are the same, compare the digits in the

                   tens place.

                          876, 895                  Since 7 < 9, 876 < 895.


                •  If the digits in the hundreds and tens places are the same, compare the
                   digits in the ones place.


                          876, 875                  Since 6 > 5, 876 > 875.
