P. 130
9 Fill in the boxes.
(a) dividend = 18, divisor = 2, quotient = 9 → ÷ =
(b) dividend = 36, divisor = 6, quotient = 6 → ÷ =
(c) 64 ÷ 8 = → dividend = , divisor = , quotient =
(d) 21 ÷ 3 = → = 21, divisor = , quotient =
(e) 45 ÷ 9 = → = 45, = 9, quotient =
Concept of Remainder
Sometimes the divisor does not divide the dividend completely and a number
is left over. This number is called the remainder.
Look at the given example.
6 → Quotient
Divisor → 4 26 → Dividend (4 × 6 = 24)
– 24
2 → Remainder
Little Genius!
Fill in the boxes.
÷ 9 = , dividend = , divisor = , quotient = 8
10 Circle the remainder in the following problems.
7 5 9 9
(a) 5 38 (b) 8 41 (c) 10 92 (d) 6 58
– 35 – 40 – 90 – 54
3 1 2 4
