Method 3

Subtract an easy number close to the actual number and then correct the answer.

                    Look at the given example.

                    73 – 38

Subtract 40 (38 + 2) from 73, as it is close to 38 and easy to subtract.

                    73 – 40 = 33

Now, correct the answer by adding 2 to 33, as we subtracted 2 more than 38.

                    So, 73 – 38 = 35.

                      9. Subtract the given numbers mentally.

                           (a) 86 – 35 = (b) 87 – 38 = (c) 81 – 77 =

                           (d) 83 – 48 = (e) 56 – 45 = (f) 61 – 28 =

                      1. Write the subtrac on facts for the following.

                          (a) 2 + 8 = 10

                          (b) 5 + 4 = 9

                      2. Write the addi on facts for the following.

                          (a) 12 – 7 = 5

                          (b) 9 – 3 = 6

                      3. Find the diff erence.
