Subtract an easy number close to the actual number and then correct the answer.
Look at the given example.
73 – 38
Subtract 40 (38 + 2) from 73, as it is close to 38 and easy to subtract.
73 – 40 = 33
Now, correct the answer by adding 2 to 33, as we subtracted 2 more than 38.
So, 73 – 38 = 35.
