                    We use a before a consonant sound.

                           a cupboard                a bottle of milk                  a duck’s egg

                    We use an before a vowel sound.

                           an Englishman             an important lesson               an unusual incident


                    A and an are called indefinite articles because when we use a or an it is not
                    important which particular person or thing we are talking about.

                    A park can be any park. We are not specifying which park.

                    An Englishman can be any Englishman. We are not specifying which

                    Englishman.
                    We don’t use a or an with plural or uncountable nouns.


                           a buses       an Indian players          (buses and players are plurals)
