                        TERMS TO KNOW


                         1.  Organ: Part of the body that has a particular function to perform
                         2.  External organs: Organs that we can see

                         3.  Internal organs: Organs that are located inside the body which we cannot see
                         4.  Skull: A bony structure that surrounds and protects the brain

                         5.  Ribcage: Structure of bones (called ribs) that surrounds and protects the chest
                         6.  Organ system:A group of organs that work together to perform a particular function

                         7.  Respiratory system: The body system that deals with breathing
                         8.  Windpipe: An air passage that carries air from the nose to the lungs in the body

                         9.  Lungs: Spongy bag-like structures that are located in the chest cavity
                         10.  Breathing: Process of taking in oxygen and giving out carbon dioxide

                         11.  Diaphragm: An organ that helps the lungs to expand and contract while breathing
                         12.  Deep breathing: Method of breathing in a lot of oxygen-rich air

                         13.  Air pollution: The addition of harmful substances to the air as a result of human
                             activities
