6. A red carpet 12 m long and 1.5 m wide is
kept for welcoming foreign dignitaries and
heads of state. A 10 cm wide border runs
parallel to the lengths on both the edges. 1.5 m
Along the width of one edge the border is
25 cm wide and on the other side the border
                 is .5 m broad with ‘WELCOME’ inscripted 12 m
on it. Find the total area of the border.
               7. The adjoining figure shows a racing track 10 m
consisting of two parallel stretches 119 m
long and 10 m wide. Its other two ends are 70 m
semicircular. The inner distance between the
two parallel stretches is 70 m. Evaluate:
                  (a) the distance around the track along its outer 119 m
                      edge
                  (b) the area of the track
               8. In the given figure there is a square of side 14 cm. Find the area of the shaded region.

                                                             14 cm

               9. Calculate the area and perimeter of the given figure where the 14 cm
                 circular parts are semicircles.

                                                                                            8 cm

              10. Find the area of the shaded portion of the given rectangle.

                                                 8 cm

                                                                                  4 cm
                                     6 cm

                                                                                  6 cm

                                              5 cm 9 cm
