Converting Decimal Numbers to Fractions
To convert a decimal number to a fraction, we follow the given steps.
• Write the decimal number without the decimal point as the numerator.
• Write 1 followed by as many zeros as the number of digits in the decimal part as the
denominator.
Example 3: Convert (a) 0.8, (b) 0.95 and (c) 0.096 to fractions.

Example 4: Convert (a) 5.09 and (b) 7.24 to fractions.

Expanded Form of Decimal Numbers
Example 5: Write 135.024 in the expanded form.
Solution: Short form Expanded form
135.024 = 1 hundred + 3 tens + 5 ones + 2 hundredths + 4 thousandths

= 100 + 30 + 5 + 0.02 + 0.004
