                         What To Do?

To understand the concept of tens and ones

                         What We Need?

9 rubber bands of two colours each (say red and black), a pencil and a
                         sheet of paper

                         How To Do?

                           • Make groups with 3–5 children in each group.

                           • Decide which colour rubber bands represent tens and ones

respec vely. Let black rubber bands represent tens and red rubber
                               bands represent ones.

                           • Call a group and tell them a number, say 46.

                           • Using the rubber bands, the Tens Ones

                               children will represent the given
number in tens and ones. So,

they will have to use 4 black
rubber bands and 6 red rubber
                               bands to represent 46.

                           • Ask them the number just before and a er the given number.

                           • Give marks to each group on the basis of their answers. The group
with the maximum marks will be the winner.
