Subtraction on a Number Line

To subtract on a number line, we move backward.

Let’s take an example.

8 – 5 = ?

Start from 8 on the number line. To subtract 5, move 5 steps backward from 8.

You will reach 3 which is the answer.

So, 8 – 5 = 3.
