P. 112
How To Do?
• Form groups of 10 children each.
• Give 10 ice cream s cks and 1 rubber band to each child of the group.
• Give diff erent addi on problems to each group. For example, ask
one group to add 34 and 25.
• Tell the group to form bundles of ten s cks to represent tens and
single s cks to represent ones. For example, they will form 3 bundles
to represent 3 tens and 4 s cks to represent 4 ones to form 34.
+ = 34
Similarly, they will form 25 using the s cks.
• Then, they will put and count tens together and ones together to
get the answer.
+ = 5 tens + = 9 ones
3 tens 2 tens 4 ones 5 ones
So, the answer will be 59.
• Similarly, each group has to fi nd the answer to the problem sum
given to them.
• In the next round, give problems based on subtrac on to solve.
• Give marks to each group according to the performance. The group
with the maximum marks will be the winner.
