Appreciation



                    Look at these lines from the poem.
                         • ‘Thou’rt wrong, my friend,’ said good King Hal,

                         •  ‘I earn my bread,’ quoth he;
                    The words thou’rt and quoth are an old way of saying you are and said, respectively. Such words
                    and phrases that are no longer used in everyday speech are called archaic words. Archaisms are
                    sometimes used in poetry and other literary forms to lend an old-fashioned fl avour to them.


                    A.  Find more archaic words from the poem. Write them in the fi rst column of the table given
                       below. Complete the table by writing the modern equivalent of these words in the second
                       column. One has been done for you.
