The man hurried and brought back a fishing hook. He tied the hook to
7
the end of a long rope. He lowered the hook into the water to fish for
the moon.
He waited and waited. The hook reached the bottom of the well and
8
caught on a huge stone. Thinking that he had caught the moon, the
man pulled and pulled. He pulled so hard that the rope broke and he fell
flat on his back.

As the man lay on the ground and groaned in pain, he saw the moon
high up in the sky.
He said joyfully, ‘I hurt my back, but thankfully, the moon is back in its
place!’
The next day, he told everyone about fishing the moon out of the well.
Not one person told him that the moon did not fall into the well – it
was always there in the sky.
