You must have heard your mother often asking you to keep your things
                    properly in place. Why do you think she asks you to do so? She says so
                    because she wants you to store things such that you can easily fi nd them

                    later. It is important to organise our things to make our work easy. We store
                    our belongings in places called storage places.

                    We use diff erent storage places in our daily lives.

                    •  An almirah is used to keep clothes and other things.

                    •  A school bag is used to keep books, pencil box and lunch box.
                    •  A refrigerator is used to store food items.

                    The way we keep our things in storage places, similarly we can keep important

                    papers in a fi le.

                    We can also save any information in a computer in the form of a fi le.

                    File


                    A collection of related information kept together on a computer or any storage
                    devices like hard disk, CD, DVD or pen drive is called a fi le. It is important to
                    save the information in fi les so that we can use it whenever needed. We can

                    save fi les with diff erent names.

                    Creating a File


                    We have learnt about Paint in the previous chapter. Now let’s learn to create
                    a fi le in Paint. Follow these steps.

                      1.  Click on the Start button.

                      2.  Click on Windows Accessories and select Paint.
