We have learnt about the main parts of a computer such as monitor,
CPU, keyboard and mouse. We have also learnt about some other parts like

scanner, printer and speaker.

Diff erent parts of a computer make it function properly. We can divide the
parts of a computer into diff erent categories as shown.

Input Devices

The devices used to enter information, data and instructions in a computer
are called input devices. Some common input devices are described here.

Keyboard

• A keyboard contains many buttons called keys.

• We press the keys to enter data into a computer in the form of letters,
words, numbers and special symbols.

Mouse

• A mouse is pointing device. It allows us to enter data into a computer by
pointing, clicking, dragging and dropping.

• It has two or three buttons.
