GROUP ACTIVITY

To understand the concept of division by forming groups

Things We Need: Rubber bands, a sheet of paper and a pencil

            How To Do:

              1. Divide the class into groups of five children each.

              2. The teacher will give a certain number of rubber bands to each group.

              3. Each group will then divide the rubber bands equally by forming groups
and write all possible combinations. For example, if a group gets 12
                   rubber bands, all possible combinations will be 12 ÷ 1 = 12, 12 ÷ 2 = 6,

                   12 ÷ 3 = 4, 12 ÷ 6 = 2 and 12 ÷ 12 = 1.

              4. The teacher will give points to each group on the basis of the correct
                   combinations formed.

              5. Repeat the above activity 4–6 times with different number of rubber bands.
The group with maximum points will be the winner.

                    12 ÷ 1 = 12 12 ÷ 2 = 6 12 ÷ 3 = 4

                     12 ÷ 4 = 3 12 ÷ 6 = 2 12 ÷ 12 = 1
