Capacity

Capacity is the amount any object can hold.

A jug can hold 10 glasses of water.

We can also write it as follows:

                • A jug holds more water than a glass.

                • A glass holds less water than a jug.

            Look at another example.

A kettle can hold 5 cups of milk.

We can also write it as follows:

                • A kettle holds more milk than a cup.

                • A cup holds less milk than a kettle.

5 In each set, tick () the object that can hold more.

              (a) (b)

              (c) (d)
