GROUP ACTIVITY
To understand the concept of tens and ones
Things We Need: 9 rubber bands of two colours each (say red and black), a
pencil and a sheet of paper
How To Do:
1. Make groups with 3–5 children in each group.
2. Decide which colour rubber bands represent tens and ones respectively. Let
black rubber bands represent tens and red rubber bands represent ones.
3. Call a group and tell them a number, say 46.
4. Using the rubber bands, the children Tens Ones
will represent the given number in
tens and ones. So, they will have to
use 4 black rubber bands and 6 red
rubber bands to represent 46.
5. Ask them the number just before and
after the given number.
6. Give marks to each group on the basis of their answers. The group with
the maximum marks will be the winner.
