            Comparing Numbers

Let’s revise the rules to compare numbers.

                • A 2-digit number is always more than a 1-digit number.

                   For example, 22 is more than 3 or 22 > 3

                • In 2-digit numbers also, the number which comes after is more.

For example, 35 is more than 21 because it comes after 21.

                • To compare 2-digit numbers:

Compare the tens place first in 2-digit numbers.

                   For example, 35 is less than 75 or 35 < 75

                • If the tens place is the same, compare the ones place.

                   For example, 69 is more than 66 or 69 > 66

6 Write more or less in the boxes.

              (a) 32 is less than 45 (b) 84 is than 78

              (c) 26 is than 20 (d) 90 is than 91

              (e) 74 is than 79 (f) 51 is than 15

              (g) 88 is than 77 (h) 63 is than 61

                                                                                                                 99
