Anders Celsius (1701–1744) was a Swedish astronomer, physicist and mathematician. He invented one of the most common temperature scale called Celsius scale. It is based on boiling and melting points of water. Celsius originally called his scale centigrade that means ‘hundred steps’ in Latin. Originally, this scale was the reverse of today’s scale.
